P-47D Thunderbolt Flown by Lt. Francis "Gabby" Gabreski. 56th FG, England, June 1944. Gabreski was the top scoring US ace in Europe during WWII and later became a jet ace in Korea. The 56th FG opted to paint its aircraft using the British dark grey and green color scheme instead of the standard US olive drab. Patterns were freehanded and varied from aircraft to aircraft.

This 1:24 kit is the second release from Vintage Fighter Group. My kit had a severe molding error on the turtle back piece of the left fuselage that required patching with sheet styrene and much putty.
